1. Is your software year-2000 compliant?
2. What do I need in terms of a computer system in
order to run the VolTrax programs?
3. When I try to make a backup of my data files, I
get an error message saying "Target Media is NON-removable
and can not be used for a multi-volume operation." What gives?
ANSWERS:
1. Yes, all VolTrax programs are "Y2K compliant". This is enforced by the program making use of 4-digit years throughout. Depending on the version (3 or 4) this works in different ways. In version 3, if you type in a two-digit year, the program will insert a "19" in front of it. This means that for dates in 2000 and beyond, you simply need to type in the full 4-digit year. For version 4, the scheme follows that of most major software, using a "cutoff" year. So, any 2-digit year 29 and below gets "20" appended to it, and any year 30 or above gets "19" put in front. Of course, you can still override this by typing in the full 4-digit year, or correcting the century given by the program.
2. (For version 3) In order to run the older VolTrax software, you need at least a 386DX computer, at least 4 Megabytes of memory, and Windows 3.1 or later. The program takes up approximately 5 to 7 Megabytes of hard disk storage. The new version, version 4, is one that developed for use in Windows 95/98, and has much larger requirements, as most 95/98 programs do. You'll need a CD-Rom drive to install the program from, of course Windows 95 or 98, and it is recommended that you have at least a Pentium-133 or faster with 32 Megs of ram. The more, the better.
3. This is caused by the program trying to use a disk drive that is not a floppy drive. It can also occur if the program tries to use a drive that you do not have in your computer, i.e. a B-drive if you only have one floppy installed. To fix this, from the main menu of the program, choose COMFIGURATION, then BACKUP. There you can set the correct drive letter.
