Personal Computer Services

On this page you'll find a listing of some of the programs I have developed:

VolTrax programs -- actually a set of three programs for the Foster Grandparent, Senior Companion, and R.S.V.P. programs. The programs allow for keeping demographic information on volunteers that work with the programs, as well as tracking service hours and expenses. There is an optional module for check-writing. I have marketed this set of programs and currently have over 160 different sites that use one or more of them. This program was originally created using Foxpro 2.6, and the current version is in Visual Basic 6.0, and uses MS Access databaswe files for the data storage, meaning increased flexibility for power users.

BIAStats -- this program was developed to help the Head Injury Foundation in Birmingham record and track the services that they provide. It provides data entry screens for each of the major categories of service, and reports based on a number of criteria can be generated for any time period. There is a special donors entry screen so that you can record and keep up with donors' names and addresses, plus their past history. This program is available now to all the Brain Injury Association members in the U.S. This program was created using Access 2.0 and also exists in Access 97 and 2000.

Budget Allocation Program -- developed for the United Way in Birmingham, this program is distributed to each member organization of the local United Way. The organizations use the program to fill in the information required for their yearly budget allocation request, as well as to print the actual request document. It also creates a disk that they return to the United Way, which takes the information and merges it into a master database containing fiscal information on all their member agencies. Created using Access.

Information and Referral tracking program -- also developed for the United Way, this program allows logging of all the calls received by the I&R agency there. It maintains a database of services and agencies that provide those services. This program has been used by the I&R agency for over four years. It was developed in Foxpro 2.6 for Windows.

Credit report generator -- a program that dials a credit bureau and requests a credit report on an individual. It receives the report, reformats it into an Access database, and allows printing and other utilization of the report. This program was written in Visual Basic.

Software Training Courses -- I have in the past contracted with both the University of Alabama in Birmingham Special Studies and New Horizons in Birmingham and Huntsville to teach courses in Windows, Foxpro, Access, Excel and various other subjects. I also conducted classes for the Career Development program at US Steel in Birmingham. Some of these courses utilized standardized materials, while others I developed and presented the content myself.
